LLOMBARDIA ITALIANA I

Entorn

Coneixeu l’agricultura selvàtica? I la permacultura?

Have you heard about selvatic agriculture? What about permaculture? They are two new concepts that are beginning to appear in Italy.

Even though Italy is a very culinary country with an important cooking tradition and a nutrition based on the Mediterranean diet, our blogger explains to us that since World War 2 the nutrition habits have changed and that their culinary traditions have been fading away progressively. Even though these past years the organic food culture has increased in Italy and now you can easily find organic products in small towns, big shopping malls, etc. the Italians needed more than just organic food and decided to take on the selvatic agriculture, a concept that comes from permaculture. It is a concept that hasn't emerged into the internet world yet, it is still difficult to find information about it, but through what they have teached us here in Italy it’s main concept is about cultivating food with the minimum human intervention. Not only in a chemical free way but also using ancient and non modified varieties of plants, grown in small fields or semi-spontaneously by themselves, coming exclusively from little producers or gatherers, or from totally wild plantations. These past days we have been staying at our Italian blogger’s house in Corbetta, a small village in the countryside near Milan in the region of Lombary. We want to share some pictures our trip and wonderful experiences in this amazing area with all of you!
